COLD

Have I mentioned that Utah is cold? Yesterday I made the mistake of going to marching band in shorts, I ended up with a blanket around me for most of practice. Then today I wear a skirt, as always, and what happens? I FREEZE! Hail today, not just cold rain, snow on mountain tops. This is my third winter in Utah and I am still not used to this very very very odd weather. Lets pray for some heat.

Back to Provo

Two months later and I am back in the land of good and plenty... well that is what some people call the boys that run around here. I usually sit in my office, enjoy the view of the trees changing colors, the stadium, and when the air is not so polluted the mountains. There is not a day that I do not miss London, and if you look at my sister's blog (Kiley) you will find most of the adventures we went on, or just ask to see my pictures.

The past month of school has been filled with marching band, work, Latin, and happily boys. This past weekend I went on two dates (odd for me sadly) and I almost died in one of them, I went four wheeling, and the four wheeler was tipped over, luckily I pushed myself off and pulled the guy with me (I had a death grip on him). But after getting over the shock of ankle deep mud, freezing rain, and running the four wheeler into bushes (twice) I just had such a great time. AFter we got back and took pictures of the now brown clothes we had some hot chocolate and jumped into the hot tub. Having a hot tub at 105F made me miss the AAAC and the 93F pool that I would swim in or dig goodies out. Back to school....

Having my sister share the same campus as me is probably one of my favorite experiences. I have the chance to eat lunch with her, go to her place or have her over for my Disney nights that happen once a week. This semester at BYU will be my favorite yet.

sleep?

So I was reminded of wise council that my mother gave me years ago as I was reading Jane Austen at about the age of 12, maybe 10 ish... ok she gave me this council in every book that I read, "GO TO SLEEP, or I will take your book away." She made good on her word a few times as well. If only she was here to stop me. Last night at about 10ish I picked up Persuasion, a book we have to read for my class and consequently by my favorite Author, Jane Austen, and well I put the book down around 1ish and kinda fell asleep on the couch with teh book open, then woke up a little bit later, notmuch over a half an hour and sat and talked to Kiley and Anna (wow i dont know how to spell her name sorry...) for about another hour or so. Then they were going to bed, and I decided, in infinate wisdom, to finish up a chapter... well as my mother can attest to, I dont finish a chapter, I finish the book. Yes mom, I read the restof hte book. I was almost done, less than a hundred pages to go. I was so close, and Jane was tanting me with not letting me know how all would end up happy in the end. So I did it, at around 540am I closed the book, resolved to not read the first ending, and was happy to take a nap because Kiley would throw a pillow at me if i was not up.

Now on another note, I finished the book ahead of time, today I stayed in and read more of the other readings, so I am now done with my homework till tuesday. I can go to the museum without feeling guilty of homework. And well, I had a really relaxing day. Now all I need to do is get a straightener, something to take the place of shaving- it is impossible to shave in our bathrooms! and pamper myself before the dance tonight. And well maybe start a new book...... until next time.

- Oh and I plan on writing stories that actually have pictures to go along, one shall be written on monday for sure when teh conclusion to a story will be drawn up and placed presently in its place.

rain rain go away!

I have now learned that an umbrella is a necessary accessory here in London, and the surrounding areas. There has not been a day when it has not rained. Some days it is more of a trinkle or a mist, others, like today, it rained cats and dogs.... well it might as well have. My shoes squished and squashed as they filled with water as I ran through Blenheim Palace (way too much money spent on a house er excuse me, Palace) and all around Oxford. I FINALLY found a neclass suitable for my 4th of July outfit for tomorrow... though I do not have earrings or a braclet, but I guess I will just have to make due with what I have. Anyways, oh yes, umbrellas. Totally forgot. Well I have decided it would be useful and fun to own lots of umbrellas... you know to match your outfits so you are not using the same ones every day. Like coats or scarfs. Anyways think on that thought as I go and eat.

British Gaurds can smile

So, with Kiley already blogging about London, and I go just about everywhere with her I feel that really she covers everything, plus the fact that she has all of hte pictures on her computer makes me feel, oh a bit boring, but hey I have stories too!

So my first story that I will venture to encite you with..... TONIGHT! A walk alone with two other girls, it was late at night. No boys to protect us. We wanted to see where the amazing weeping willows hung their heads late at night, and the ducks rest their eyes. Slowly the streets come to an end, and we see all lit up before us the amazing Buckingham Palace. We walk by in awe, and I stop, turn to the little river that runs up to the Palace and turn to the Eye of London. There I remember a quaint little bridge that shows you the fairy tale land that you always dreamed of as a child. Driven to take my girls there we walked along the perrilous road toward the center of the park. There we stopped and gazed into the eyes of the town we lived in. Then a shadowy figure comes up, on the other side. We stop and turn. He asks about our view and I admit I like the Palace better at night. HE agrees and as we converse he lets it drop he is a Palace Guard.

"Guard?" I say, confused and really excited. " Like the ones with the really tall hats?" I lift my hands from the top of my skull to as far as my arms will reach above my head trying to recreate an airfull hat that he proudly wears. He even smiled and he quickly gains esteem in my eyes. My companions join in the questioning, one would think that we were the army not he, with our inquisiting eyes and ears quick to ask eager to learn. Then from teh other side, we become surrounded, another offduty guard. A half hour then an hour goes by when I finally ask, "when are you working with your big hats (again motion) so I can see you and take a picture in hopes that you will smile for me?" They give me their numbers, as i did not know the one for the center, and we continue talking. Then the gentlemen of regementals escorted us ladies to our underground train station stop, it is sunday night, and we feel that clubbing, as they had asked us to do, would be a little bit much. So we left with final hugs and promises of calls to see them at work.... That is the story of TONIGHT.

Now that I have broken the ice of stories in london, I will try to remeber to load the pictures of our Palace gaurds and oh a tidbit.... Johnny in london.... is a nickname, but not one for all of a man..... ill leave it at that.

only at BYU....

so to add to the nicities of BYU/ Utahness...

Yesterday I was walking around the HFAC (music bldg for all non BYU students) with a boquet of flowers and my favorite pink dress. I was going to the opera, and my friend was in it- hence the flowers. As I was walking around this little, maybe 6 year old boy, looks at me and turns to his friends and asks, "did she just get married? She has flowers did she just get married?"

I had to walk out of the building because I was about to start laughing. It was cute, and only at BYU would little kids know to associate nice dress, and flowers to a wedding. Maybe next year they will know a bride usually wears white and has a man next to her side.

BYU vs. UoU

So I was born and raised a cougar. True and blue. So how is it for irony that the only guy I date in Utah, amidst all the pluthera of BYU boys, is not only from Utah, but actaully goes to the U of U? And I really suck at writing blogs. They dont work. Neh.

Oh happy happy drugs

Last week I was sick. And while sick I went on a date. that was my first brilliant step. I had taken some drugs aka medication (for any confused persons reading), that would make me sleepy. On the date I warned the other couples of my mental state. Which at that time could be labled unstable. I asked them to ignore any odd thing I had said throughout the night. The first part of the date went by without any major hitches. We stood outside for an hour- for a VT memorial, and then decided to get food. I was tired, obviously, so I got a Dr. Pepper (suprised I think not). About ten minutes later we all were shooting off movie quotes. From Tommy Boy to somehow penguins. My mind was doing brilliantly. I was keeping up and throwing more out. At the mention of penguins I got REALLY excited because this movie, Surfs Up- about surfing penguins was coming out. Well one of the girls looks over at me and asks, "have you seen Surf Ninjas?" I got REALLY excited. Like five times more excited than before and blurted out, "YES!!!!!!!!!!!" The whole restaurant jumped and turned and looked at me. We were laughing hysterically. I could not have gotten myself out of that hole. Instead I decided to dig a deeper one. After laughing I turned to the old ladies sitting at the next table, they had jumped the highest, and I just laughingly, but seriously, told them "dont mind me, I'm just on drugs" It took me a second to realize that I just announced to the entire restaurant- because I do not talk softly those times- that I was on drugs.....

To add to the irony of the night, that date was on 4/20..... yes it is a sad truth.
